Ok this one is a seriously weird product, it’s mainly made of cream cheese. These days mainly from cows milk but it used to be made with goat’s milk back in the days. As far as I know it was only made in the Deux Sèvres département.
The shape is like a UFO with the top burned, and the inside tastes like a richer and denser brioche. Not bad, however I tried the cows cream cheese one, and I have been told that the goats one is much better, but nearly impossible to find these days.
For the historical small story (Yes there has to be one, it is a cheese based french product after all) “Tourteau Fromager” was the code that Radio Londres was using to pass messages to the French resistance in the Deux Sèvres.
